Which XMG and SCHENKER laptops can be charged over USB-C or Thunderbolt? OverviewAll laptops released since 2024 can be charged over USB-C or Thunderbolt. Before that, the feature was gradually implemented on an ever increasing number of systems since about 2018, starting with thin & light office laptops and finally working their way up to high-end gaming laptops and workstations.Performance limitationsPower input over Thunderbolt and USB-C is limited to 100 watts (20V*5A) on most models, and 140 watts (20V*7A) on a few models that were introduced in 2025. Please check the spec sheet of the particular laptop models for details.On high-performance laptops, the limitation of USB-C power input means that USB-C power can not be used for high-end gaming, especially not for dGPU usage. The middle part shows how high the line requirement of the respective laptops is in relation to USB-C power supplies. The date of the last update is at the bottom left, after the footnotes and FAQ references.What changes when all new laptops have to support USB-C charging from 2026 as per a new EU directive?This directive only applies to laptops that require a maximum of 100 watts of power consumption. So, as of 2023, we are already in compliance with this directive.
